Membership/Dues
The Indiana NATS Chapter dues are in the amount of $30.00.   Please
also consider making an additional donation to the NATSAA Fund to
help the winner(s) subsidize their preparation and travel expenses to
Regional and National Competitions.  It is important that we continue
to build up this fund for the  NATSAA competition, so please give as
much as you are able.  Every dollar counts.

We strongly encourage you to keep your membership current.  Please
refer to the information below regarding the new method of paying
National and State dues.   Your dues help pay for postage and
expenses incurred during State Student Auditions and
workshops/master classes.    Suggestions for workshop/master
classes are welcome.  Please be reminded that your dues are paid
on a fiscal basis, the same as National dues and must be current to
participate in any NATS sponsored event.

At the 2014 NATS National Conference held in Boston, the National
Board of Directors voted to change the way State chapter dues are to be
collected.  As of October 1, 2014 State chapter dues will be paid through
the National office at the same time you pay your National dues with
period will be from October 1, 2014-February 1, 2015 with a variety of
payment plans.  After February 1st a late fee will be added.  There will be
If you paid your State dues in November at the 2013 Fall student
auditions and your National dues were also current, you will be
considered active for the upcoming 2014 Indiana student auditions in
November.  If you did not participate in the auditions last year and wish
to participate this year but  only paid your National dues you will need to
pay both your National and State dues prior to the Fall auditions.

If you have any questions or concerns regarding State dues please
contact David Mannell Indiana NATS State Treasurer, dbmsal@aol.com

1) The NATS Board approved a requirement that all chapter dues be
collected
through the national dues renewal process effective with the 2015 dues
renewal
cycle.  This change is important for several reasons that I will briefly
explain.

*   Well over half our chapters that collect dues are already participating
in
this process.
*   Our new website has the ability to provide helpful data and tools to
chapters using this process including up to the minute chapter member
lists and
consistent and updated contact info on all members.
*   Many of the chapters using this process have experienced growth due
to the
ease of chapter renewal at the same time as members renew their
national dues.
*   Chapters using this renewal process are also seeing a higher
renewal rate
and fewer individuals paying their chapter dues late.
*   Standardizing this process for all chapters helps us unify the renewal
process for ALL our members.
*   All our members will now be able to renew all aspects of their
association
with NATS in one transaction.
*   It will help us keep better membership records for all our members.
*   Most all of our sister organizations, MTNA, ACDA, NAfME and others
have
been using this type of renewal for many years.

Currently, monthly checks are cut to each chapter for 100% of the dues
collected
and NATS is absorbing the credit card fees and other costs associated
with
collecting chapter dues.  We are investigating the efficacy and cost of
using
direct bank transfers in the future to transfer funds to your chapter.  There
have been questions related to this requirement from some of our
Canadian
Chapters and we are working to make this process work effectively for
them as
well.

The Board of Directors discussed this process at length before
agreeing that
this is the best course forward for our future organizational health. In
order
for this to work efficiently we are asking chapter to conform to a few other
changes.
